Freshmen: 
Find a poem you have read in the past, that has had a significant impact on you (either positive or negative). Print out a copy of that poem and write a response to the poem, reflecting on the following questions:
  1. What do you notice about the writing style, word choices, or other poetic patterns? 
  2. What emotional impact or power does the poem have? You can consider its mood, tone, or other "intangible" qualities you observe.

  Visions of the Future:
  • For Monday, you will draft a one-page, typed and double-spaced journal entry from the perspective of one member of your society, two hundred years after its establishment. You may create a character in any social or power position, and you will convey that character's observations and impressions of the society.  
  • Also for Monday, read "A City of Churches."
